They told her not to do it

Have you ever been told that setting boundaries at work is a career limiting move?

That you need to prove yourself first. Keep your head down. Don't ask for too much too soon. Especially in a new role.

One of my clients just started a new job. Before she left her old one, she sat down with multiple people on the executive committee and asked for their advice.

Every single one of them said the same thing.

Don't expect to see your family much in the first year. Earn flexibility before you ask for it. Stay small until you've proven you belong.

She listened. She thanked them.

And then she said to herself:

I'm a 5 percenter. I'm going to do this differently.

She wrote a confident email to HR and her new managers laying out her core working hours on property: 9 to 4.

She didn't ask. She stated them. And she backed it up with a clear plan for how she'd deliver.

It was approved immediately.

Her managers said it was well thought through. They appreciated her thoughtfulness. Nobody panicked. Nobody pushed back.

9 to 4. Week one.

She didn't shrink herself or her needs.

This is what Stop Proving. Start Positioning. actually, looks like.

The conventional advice is what 95% of people follow. And it makes some people really successful. Really tired. And with a lot of regrets at the end of their life.

And she knew it. She had tried the old way. And she was ready for Performance + Happiness.

That's the 5% difference.

The career and the life. Not after you've earned it. From day one.

This is what we work on every single week inside the PH+ Lab.

How to be bolder. How to take up more space. How to set boundaries that actually hold while you're delivering more, getting noticed more, and building a career that works for your whole life.

Every week something shifts. You get clearer. You get braver. You get better at knowing what's yours to carry and what isn't. And slowly, your life stops feeling like something that's happening to you and starts feeling like something you designed.

Easier. Lighter. And somehow bigger than you imagined!

We're grateful and we want more. That's the whole game.

I sat down to write this email and I genuinely could not pick a topic. I didn't know if I should tell you that four different women inside the pH+ Lab started new roles this month. Promotions, internal moves, external offers. Four. In one month. $70k more in an internal role. $300k more in an external role. A boss who says of course don't miss the pre-school party. Getting back into the field she's been missing. Real women. Growing their Pay & Happiness at the same time. I didn't know if I...

My client is a VP at a Fortune 50 company, and for months she'd been doing the work. Real essentialism. Picking the one project that mattered most to her organization and saying no to everything that didn't align with it. And she was nervous about it. Because every time she said no, a little voice whispered: this is going to hurt you. They're going to think you're not committed. Not helpful. Not a team player. Then her boss called a meeting. She walked in braced for the conversation she'd...
